Homeless

Well that is not exactly true as we are in a hotel now but as of this morning we have checked out of our Fort Lee home and the process was MUCH easier then previously experienced at Fort Campbell.

If you remember, the Fort Campbell system about wore us out and we had many charges added to our bill because of simple silly things that we overlooked and put up with but that housing thought was serious. Anyhow, the inspector at Fort Lee was so nice that he showed up a day early to help us patch the holes in our walls from pictures we hung up. And this morning he showed up early to help Keith remove the trash from the property. Does it get better than that?? I think not! If it wasn't the man's last day of work I would write him an outstanding letter to his employer-- but maybe because it is his last day of work, we got away with more. Who knows and who cares!

Anyhow, we are done with moving ourselves. I must say if it wasn't for the extra 6 people who showed up to help us I don't think we could have done it. It is good to have selfless friends who are always willing to lend a hand. We filled a 26 foot trailer and the driver will show up sometime today to start its journey to Texas. As for us, we are here until tomorrow because Keith has several appointments to get checked out of Fort Lee. I guess I don't mind as we are in a nice room that has entertainment for the kids. It happens that Army Lodging was full so we went off post to find a place. We found this hotel and the only room left was the jacuzzi suite so the kids were playing in it until late last night.

All I care about is the quality of the bed! The night before last we were so tired that the thought of packing the car and trying to get a hotel was out of the question. So we slept on the floor and we sure could feel the effects of that the next morning. And my previous experiences with military hotels leaves a lot to be desired so I was secretly happy that it could not accomodate us! The bed here is definitely not the Marriot (one of my favorites) but it was nice and I slept hard. I needed that.
