Change
I am all about change which is unlike most people. I find myself getting bored easily if something doesn't change in my life on a regular basis- I guess that is why I enjoy the military lifestyle so much. People often say to me, "I don't know how you do it" but really, I don't know how I would not do it and still be a sane and likeable person. Fresh starts, new friends, great adventures is what makes my life exciting. I don't want to be doing the same thing 5 years from now that I am doing today. That would be my definition of true watching the paint dry, grass grow boredom.
So there have been a few changes around here, nothing earth shattering, but change all the same. Here is one that Keith doesn't know about yet. This little one showed up last night and I am still debating what to do.
Bridger was just asking me for a second cat and I told him NO WAY. He must be using the power of the Law of Attraction because I swear it wasn't 24 hours and this thing shows up. We started calling it Fanta because we want to keep with the carbonated beverage theme of naming our animals. Lord, just what we needed--- a change in our animal population!
Another change that is about to happen (haven't taken the leap quite yet) is the fact that I bought salmon yesterday. I had plans to eat some of it yesterday also, but didn't.
Why is this considered change you ask? Well, I haven't eaten any meat since March. While that may not be such a long time, you try it and tell me how is goes for you. I blogged a while ago about how disgusting the meat industry is and the more informed I became, the more repulsed I became towards meat of all kinds.
For a month, I tried to eat vegan which means you eat nothing that comes from an animal so that would include eggs and milk. 90% of processed foods contain just that so you pretty much eat fruit and vegtables. I could only do it for a short time and I kept finding myself in awkward positions where I just couldn't eat anything at all, therefore I thought I would just experiment with vegetarianism.
And I hold the position that if we can have a mutual respectful relationship with animals where we both benefit, then eating eggs and having milk wouldn't be so bad. Therefore I spend a tad bit extra on groceries to ensure that I am doing my part and following my values.
With all that said, I can honestly say that I am not feeling at my healthiest these days and have come to the conclusion that I need to eat some meat. I am not very creative with the non-meat options available and I know I am seriously lacking on protein in my diet. So I thought I could add in a little salmon and see what happens. I still won't do red meat (and most likely never will) and I still can't think about chicken either. The reasons are numerous but I don't get into it here.
So that is my big diet change in a nutshell-------
My vinyl cutter will be here Monday---that is the biggest change of all because it will keep me busy for hours a day---I have been working on a few things this weekend.
There are more around here somewhere.
I have been trying to write down my favorite signs that I see out and about. There are so many of them that it would keep one busy for years- but here are two of my favorite sayings for signs right now.
All unattended children will be given a free Expresso and puppy
Nobody gets in to see the wizard!
Not nobody, not no how!

1 Comments:
brown rice and pinto beans together make a complete protien.
However a little fish will do you good. My neighbor around the corner called and said she is bringing me a salmon dinner tonight which will be welcome as I haven't been able to do much one arm cooking. Did manage a pot of brown rice yesterday though.
