Happier Times

I would write more often but it seems I have more important things to do such as taking care of sick people. It never seems to stop-- poor Jadyn has already had 3 illnesses in the past 2 weeks and Bridger is working on his second. So I am tied to this house waiting on them hand and foot like the nanny, maid, cook, nurse that I am meant to be.

So today I thought I would post some pictures of happier times! Here is a picture of us at the Bell Witch Cave this October in Adams, TN. Notice the orb above our head. Bridger is just sure that it is a spirit of some kind.

Here is a sweet picture of Jadyn, her friends and some cats. For several days, Jadyn set up a Cat Sale in our front yard and we had many visitors. The people who owned the cats told Jadyn they would pay her $2 for every cat she could get rid of. So Jadyn would put them in a basket and take them around door to door and who could resist a little girl with the cutest kittens. Then she would set up in the front yard and talk to all the people who came walking by. She successfully got rid of all the kittens and collected her loot.

Today it was 77 degrees in Central Texas- hummm...sounding better every second.

Bikini Pics

So several of you have called me out on my Valentine's Day promise. So here I am with a couple of my girlfriends.

Hahhah--- you can find anything on the internet. But really, here is probably a more realistic picture of me- though it is NOT me.

Who knows who this poor girl is and she probably doesn't know that she is posted all over the internet.

But this will be in a short while. After I make running an integral part of my life.

So there you have it!

Anyhow, been super busy with sick people. Seems like this whole post was wiped out with some flu-like virus. And everyone in this household was hit with it except me. I got lucky again! But I have been busy trying to wash bedding and disinfect this house. Other than that, there is not anything that great going on.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We were very last minute this year as Jadyn was sick so we couldn't leave the house to purchase our Valentine's. But we finally made it today and it has been fun. I figured if they kids were in public school, you know they take the time out to have a party and watch movies, etc. So today we went out in public and made our purchases and hurried home to assemble them.

They are miniature pink lunch sacks that we decorated with stickers and ribbon and filled them full of candy to give to our neighbor friends.

And because we have an addiction to sugar problem in this house, I decided to forgo any candy for the kids and do gifts instead. Of course, they had to be 'learning' type gifts so the kids made out.

Bridger got a Bio Dome Habitat and he is trying to hatch Triop Eggs right now. They are these ugly crab things. You can see it in the picture below where the brown slop is floating in the top of the tank. There are other sections of this habitat where he can collect other bugs.

And Jadyn got a real sewing machine! I gave her this really cheap one for Christmas and she has been using it like crazy but unfortunately it didn't produce anything of quality because the stitches wouldn't stay in. So I decided to get her a beginning one that has a couple of stitches and a bobbin she she can really sew. She is sewing right now as I type this. The box just happened to be delivered by UPS today.

Keith and I decided we were not going to do presents this year because all we can think about right now is NEW HOUSE. So there goes my Kitchenaid Mixer again! Maybe next year. But I did make a Keith a great card- or a mini scrapbook. I have been working on it since December. I am a bit slow. Here is a pic of it closed.

And another one of it open...

Isn't it cute?

I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day

Just an Update

1. We have secured a mortgage and we are spending a ton of time checking out houses in the Fort Hood area on the internet. There are so many decisions to make but we are leaning towards houses that have at least 4 bedrooms, at least 1800 square feet and a back porch is a must.

2. So much for blog promises!! The truth is I have been on my scale because I am afraid of what it will say! BUT I have been running--no more walking for me because I think it useless as far as weight loss goes. BUT I can only run one mile at this moment in time and it is not very fast! In fact, I was comparing my mile time to that of the Navy standards which are pretty wimpy and I am failing miserably.

But, by the time this is all over I will be considered a runner ---- if it kills me!! So I have been waddling away everyday and I am very sore to prove it. I will be within Navy standards soon and that is good enough!

3. Keith came home this last weekend and I tried out a few of my new recipies on him. I have spent a lot of time copying recipes from books I get from the Library. So far, my most favorite recipes come from Southern Living and Rachel Ray.

Here is a picture of my homemade from scratch Buttermilk Biscuits. They are very pretty because I didn't use a circle cutter- I didn't want to waste any of the dough. But they were still just as good.

Some other things I have made are:
Chicken Cutlets with Artichoke Sauce
SourKraut Soup
Peppered Beef Brisket in Beer Sauce
Dijon Vinaigrette with Brocalli Salad
And tonight it will be Taco Soup

So far so good. If any of the recipes I make don't get at least 5 stars from the family I am going to throw away the recipe- life is too short to eat crap!

4. Here is just a random picture of the front of our house. We are required here to have Keith's name on the front with the name of his unit he is attached to here. I thought this was a cool picture.

Proud Parent

Yep, that's right! I am so proud right now. Jadyn borrowed a digital camera from our friend and she took well over 200 pictures. Many of them are really good and I will probably post some of them later. But she also discovered the video function on the camera and Bridger helped her out a little bit in this video.

Notice how Bridger uses the awesome vocabulary that I stress over each day while homeschooling him. All my years of hard work have really paid off with this video as my witness.

You all are so lucky to know me and my children!

Forced to Chill

That is what these last 8 days have done to me. It has forced me to chill out and quit worrying about everything I am not accomplishing. When I am not surrounded by my own stuff and all my To-Do Lists and chores- I actually take the time to read and take a nap. I have accomplished both of those tasks very well. Sometimes I have so much to do that I am just paralyzed and I can't do anything at all. It doesn't make any sense but it happens to me all the time. Maybe there is medication that can help me!

But I am looking forward to getting home. I will be heading that way on Tuesday (hopefully early morning) so I better start packing tomorrow because Lord knows, I brought enough stuff with me. It is going to be a pain to unpack.

I am feeling pretty good about this Fort Hood deal. I am a believer in things happen for a reason and there is a good reason why we are headed to Texas. I know things will be interesting for Keith because he is going to command a unit that doesn't even come into existance until April 1st. So there won't be a Change of Command Ceremony that is such a big deal in the Army. Usually the spouse of the new commander throws a 'party' for the event and makes enough food for 100+ people and family and friends come in from far away places, etc. But we get to skip this step all together because Keith will be the first to command. Don't know if that is a good thing or not, I feel like we are missing something, a rite of passage.
