Overwhelmed

It was bound to happen! I have spent the last 2 months with not much of anything to do besides move into my house and even though it is far from perfect yet it know has to go on the back burner. I have been slammed with all the volunteer duties of being an Army Commanders Wife and just being a mom. There is sooooo much to do and get done that sometimes I just sit here and wonder where to even start.

To Do List

Take the 40-hour food handlers class so I can conduct food fundraisers to raise money for the Family Readiness Group (FRG). This has to be done right away because everything we are doing I am paying for and I hate to be nickel and dimed to death.

Take the FRG Leader class-- but before I can do that my kids have to get signed up for the child care on post- and before I can do that I have to get their medical records from Fort Campbell.

Take the Point of Contact class-- I signed up for the evening class on the 9th

Call my list of contacts in Keith's unit and make food assignments for the Back To School FRG event on the 13th

Buy a gift for a soldier whose wife is giving birth today-- go the hospital tomorrow
Delegate people to make dinner to drop off at their house
Find the email in Keith's account for the baby Army Orders (they are so cute)- print them and get Keith to sign them

Find resources for a family whose home burned to the ground and they lost everything including the dog

Get the artwork and motto done for the keith's unit so we can start a fundraiser with shirts and mugs and rally troop pride

Make a list for Keith of everything I need from the unit for the Back to School event and have him put a detail of soldiers together to help on the day of.

Buy notebooks for the kids giftbags

Write articles for the newsletter

Sign the kids up for school-- need medical records again!!! Birth certificates and SS Cards

Call school to make appt with counselor to discuss a Plan of Action for Bridger

Find the kids a doctor and make them an appt for physicals

Make an Eye appt for all 3 of us

Make a dental appt for all 3 of us

Make a Dr appt for myself!!!!!!

And this is just the big stuff- forget all the little nitty gritty stuff that has to be done.
don't even know why I am blogging right now! I have stuff to do!!!!!!!

S'mores for everyone!

So we got crazy this weekend- I guess you can call it that when you are talking about Keith and I. We have a lot of extra property beyond our grass line in the backyard- it must extend for another 20 feet and it is just rock so growing grass there would be difficult. So we decided to build a firepit. Since we live in the middle of a construction zone we "aquired" the materials we needed. All we had to buy was a wheelbarrel. We also surrounded the firepit with rock gravel so we can sit out there and not be attacked by ants, spiders or whatever wants to come around our feet. It is really neat.

You can see all the materials behind us that the builder has left behind. I am sure we will find more uses for it. The kids are excited to use this pit for more than marshmellows-- I was telling them about the foil dinners I used to have growing up and how we would cook them in the coals. We may do that in the next week or so.

Still here!

Just having some computer issues once again! You would think with 3 of them, there would be no problems. So while I have a connection let me be quick.

Just to reiterate, you all know I live in Texas right? And that Texans love themselves, right? Well, because I am an outsider I think my builder wanted to help keep me informed so he put this on the outside of my home.

So everytime I drive up, I am reminded where I am living. That is my house address! I bet no other state can brag of such pride!

And it seems like nearly everyday, the wild life wants to remind me where I live also. One morning last week I walked out on my back porch with a cup of coffee looking for some peace and this is what greeted me. I spilled the coffee all over myself.

This is a stick bug. While I have seen a DEAD one before, it was no where near this size. I called Keith about it and he said chase it off the porch with a broom. It is as big as my broom!! When he came home, he was pretty shocked over its size (and knew I wasn't exaggerating) but kindly picked it up and took it off our property. Whew!

And here are some boring pics... This is what you see when you come out on my front porch. The house across the street being built and the fields off in the distance that will hopefully stay that way for a while.

I have been trying to get my house decorated and have been taking my sweet time, but I did mess around with the fireplace a little bit. I need opinions on this one.

Keith does not like it because he says the mirror is too tall and should be turned on it side. I say we should take advantage of the high ceilings and it is still well below the ceiling anyhow. Our fireplace still needs a fancy screen and I was thinking about getting one of those skinny tall topiary trees to go on the othe side of the mirror.

And the mirror itself! Isn't that cool?! I bought that thing almost 10 years ago in a thrift shop for around $15. For years it was painted red, but last week I painted it black and put some vinyl lettering on it. I might change it to say something else so it covers more of the mirror, but I was in a hurry to get something on it and put up on the mantel.

And Lori- this one is for you! Here is what I put in Jadyn's room above her closet door. Vinyl of course!
