Real Quick

I am not being very good at blogging since I have arrived in Texas. There is so much to share with everyone- but the facts are....my computers bite!! Between 2 laptops and a desktop I just can't get one of them to act completely right to upload pictures. And taking pictures, I am still sitting in boxes even after 2 weeks of living here. Also, trying to set up in a house that is yours is completely different than setting up a rental. You actually care where your stuff is placed and how it will all fit together. I am struggling with that in this house because the furniture I have just doesn't work here and I would love to go out and buy all new stuff, but the list would be a mile long!

Just to buy the basics to set up a new house is a killer! New appliances, blinds for the windows, food to fill the fridge and pantry wiped us out! But I got the best of the best! I will definitely be posting some appliance pictures when I can (boring I know!). My fridge is actually on the Maytag commercial right now--- that one is mine!

Well have a ton to do....back later

Pics of house

OK...as promised here are a few pictures of the house. Just a few though because we still have a ton of boxes everywhere.

Here is the front of the house

And here is the kitchen. I am pretty much all moved in here.

And the pool. We will be spending a lot of time here I am sure and so will the neighbors.

So what do you think? You like? Well if you are smart you are probably thinking....
Isn't Keith in the Army? Did Paige hit the Texas Lottery?

Haha...this isn't our house! This is Keith's daughter's house in Memphis. We stayed here for a few days on our way to Texas. Pretty though, huh. My house is too full of boxes to take pictures of anything!

And talking about the Texas Lottery- I did win!!! When we stopped at a gas station to fill up and use the powder rooms Keith bought me a $2 ticket and I won $250. That paid for 2 nights hotel and food. The ticket is now our lucky charm and our Welcome to Texas sign! How cool is that?

So far, this place is pretty nice. I call it the Land of Short Trees especially since moving here from Virginia! The trees here are so darn short. Also, Texans are really into themselves. There are more Texas state flags flown here then American flags. If they could get away with it, I am sure they would fly their flag higher than the American flag.

Yesterday we got the moving truck delivered and we got everything off it in a matter of hours which was great. Now we just need to unpack. I also sprayed the whole house with Ortho Home Defense to rid it of spiders--- they are just nasty!!! Then last night all I dreamt about were spiders so I didn't sleep very well. I was out of bed at 6am and the first thing I did was spray the house again! I just might do it everday until I feel 'protected' and the cat dies from poisoning. Just kidding!

Homeless

Well that is not exactly true as we are in a hotel now but as of this morning we have checked out of our Fort Lee home and the process was MUCH easier then previously experienced at Fort Campbell.

If you remember, the Fort Campbell system about wore us out and we had many charges added to our bill because of simple silly things that we overlooked and put up with but that housing thought was serious. Anyhow, the inspector at Fort Lee was so nice that he showed up a day early to help us patch the holes in our walls from pictures we hung up. And this morning he showed up early to help Keith remove the trash from the property. Does it get better than that?? I think not! If it wasn't the man's last day of work I would write him an outstanding letter to his employer-- but maybe because it is his last day of work, we got away with more. Who knows and who cares!

Anyhow, we are done with moving ourselves. I must say if it wasn't for the extra 6 people who showed up to help us I don't think we could have done it. It is good to have selfless friends who are always willing to lend a hand. We filled a 26 foot trailer and the driver will show up sometime today to start its journey to Texas. As for us, we are here until tomorrow because Keith has several appointments to get checked out of Fort Lee. I guess I don't mind as we are in a nice room that has entertainment for the kids. It happens that Army Lodging was full so we went off post to find a place. We found this hotel and the only room left was the jacuzzi suite so the kids were playing in it until late last night.

All I care about is the quality of the bed! The night before last we were so tired that the thought of packing the car and trying to get a hotel was out of the question. So we slept on the floor and we sure could feel the effects of that the next morning. And my previous experiences with military hotels leaves a lot to be desired so I was secretly happy that it could not accomodate us! The bed here is definitely not the Marriot (one of my favorites) but it was nice and I slept hard. I needed that.

Moving Sucks

Yes, it really, really does. I am just a tad bit frustrated because our truck was supposed to be here sometime this morning and it is now 3:20pm and they have no idea when they can get it to us. Something about not having enough drivers. My only problem with that is how in the H*** are they going to find someone to drive it all to Texas if they can't even drive down the street. This just shows how really undependable this company truely is and I have felt that from the beginning. But Lord- don't let me say that out loud or I get the death stare.

Anyhow, Auri left on Friday and we have since gotten an email that he is doing great back home. Here is a picture of him and Keith together except Keith is sleeping standing up. Very telling actually...
